Ashbury SatCom - The Mach-6 Teleport

With the acquisition of the Lawford Heath site in 2005 SMS-MACH6 set the first step to create the most professional and most beautiful Satellite Teleport on the European continent. Fully owned by the company, this site enables us to provide our customers with the highest level of reliability and service availability. An active presence of all major technology providers at the site gives us the ability to demonstrate and research the technology of tomorrow. Highly qualified and experienced staff members are at the site on a 24/7 bases totally dedicated to customer service.


A site developed from 1998 for high quality office space within well architected surroundings. To the rear of the office space are a number of transmit / receive antennas to provide satellite communications with a range of satellites across the geostationary orbit. The facility has full security provision, including chain-link fence, CCTV and intruder systems. Within the perimeter, the facility is self-sufficient with dual back-up generators and fuel storage.

Lawford Heath is approximately 3km North of Rugby, 13km East of Coventry and 33km South of Leicester. Birmingham City Centre is 40km to the East. The facility is therefore close to Birmingham International Airport and conferencing facilities, mainline train stations in Coventry and Rugby, and within a few miles of motorways M1, M6, M40, M42, M45. The main office building is 5,447 sq ft, with converted underground (ex. military) office suites of 2,666 sq ft. Total office accommodation 8,113 sq ft.

The site was privately owned by a US venture capital investor, and has been used to provide data services for business users since 1999. Since SMS-MACH6 owns the site, the objective of Management has been to build infrastructure and get the site fully operational. This was reached before the end of 2006.
